This suspension system features a body-hugging fit and stable load balance. A backplate ensures even load distribution over the entire back. The backpack will not warp or deform against the back when fully loaded and is therefore extremely stable for packing. Individually welded Tergo Pads are positioned along the curve of the spine. These pads do not absorb moisture and are designed to create ventilation channels that permit air to circulate freely for superior ventilation.

Backpacks with the e-Link system have a special buckle that allows them to be linked into an Edelrid climbing harness. The hipbelt is detached and the e-Link buckle is hooked into a webbing loop on the harness. The backpack fits just as safely and securely when attached to the climbing harness (climbing, glacier crossing, alpine touring, etc.) as it does when attached to the hipbelt. Gear loops and chalk bag are not covered by a wide hipbelt, making them easier to access. This enhances both comfort and safety on the climb, in addition to saving on the extra weight of a hipbelt.
